Life can feel full-on at times—but making a few small, mindful changes each day can make a big difference to your wellbeing. At Marpole Retreats on Leith Walk, we believe that looking after yourself shouldn’t feel like a chore. Here are ten simple daily habits to help you feel better—backed by the kind of support, classes and community you’ll find right here with us!
10 Simple Daily Habits for a Healthier, Happier Life

1. Begin with a Moment of Calm
A few minutes of meditation each morning can help clear your head, ease anxiety, and set you up for the day. It doesn’t need to be complicated—just some quiet time to breathe and be present. Start with one of our Morning Meditations, every Tuesday & Wednesday from 6:30am till 7:15am at our studio.
2. Move in a Way That Feels Good
Daily movement is essential—but it doesn’t have to mean pounding the pavement. A gentle yoga flow, an energising Reformer Pilates class, or even a bit of stretching at home can lift your mood and support your body. With classes running every day of the week, it’s easy to find something that fits your day. Find our schedule here.

3. Eat to Nourish, Not Punish
Good nutrition is essential for a healthy & happy life! And it doesn’t have to mean restriction. Think colourful meals, proper hydration, and listening to your body’s needs. At Marpole, we host weekly talks that explore easy, realistic approaches to healthy eating with varying focus points from balancing out your hormones, increasing your productivity, supporting healthy skin to simplifying nutrition. Every Monday from 5:30pm till 6:30pm.
4. Look After Your Mind
Your mental wellbeing matters just as much as your physical health! If you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed or stuck, our Wellness Wednesdays offer tools and insights to help you navigate life’s ups and downs with greater ease. They are on every Wednesday from 6:30pm till 8:00pm addressing different topics every week from reducing stress, improving your sleep to finding your purpose. Additionally, our Menopause Mondays offer psychological support surrounding menopause.

5. Find Your People
Being part of a community can boost your mood and sense of belonging. Whether it’s a relaxed evening at Paint & Sip, a fun twist on your usual class with Vinyasa & Vino, or other people looking for support in Menopause Mondays or our Relationship Lab, there’s always something happening at Marpole to help you connect, build a community and feel supported.
6. Don’t Forget to Play
Wellness isn’t all serious—it should bring you joy too. Tap into your creative side with our art and craft workshops, or try a more playful movement class like Rocket Yoga. A bit of silliness can go a long way and help you not take life too seriously all the time.

7. Step Away from the Screen
We all spend too much time on our phones. Try setting boundaries around screen time—especially in the evening—and replace some scrolling with a more mindful moment. A class, a walk, or a cup of tea in peace can do wonders for your wellbeing!
8. Prioritise Rest
Rest is not a luxury—it’s essential. Make time to unwind properly, get decent sleep, and give yourself permission to slow down. Struggling to relax? Try our weekly Sound Bath or one of our calming Candlelit Nidra or Restorative Yoga sessions to help your nervous system reset.
9. Do One Thing That’s Just for You
Make space in your day—even just ten minutes—for something that’s purely for you. A solo coffee, a journal session, or finally trying that class you’ve been eyeing up. These little moments add up!

10. Keep It Simple
Wellness doesn’t need to be perfect or performative. Some days you’ll feel on top of the world, other days not so much—and that’s completely normal. At Marpole Retreats, we’re here to support you in real life, not just the Instagram version of it.
