Get Creative &
Find Yourself Again

This retreat is perfect if you're feeling lost or stuck in a routine that doesn't feel like you, but you're not sure what would. This retreat uses creative processes to facilitate self-exploration and understanding. Using a variety of imagery, colours and mediums as part of the creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings can be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate.

Throughout this retreat you'll experience workshops lead by local artists to British Columbia, Canada. Each workshop will teach you a different creative medium and will equip you with the skills and space needed to truly express yourself. Our goal is that each guest leaves Marpole Retreats happier than when they came in, with a clearer direction and purpose to their lives.

The Get Creative Retreat: Find Yourself Again will take place at Sunrise Ridge Resort on Vancouver Island.

10:00 - 13:00 | Vision Book Making

Create a vision book of your dreams, your goals, and manifest an amazing second half of your year. A vision book is a visual of your goals, the experiences you want to have, and how you want to feel. Let's let go of what does not serve us and figure out what it is we desire!

We will start the class with some journal prompts to help you explore what it is you want to focus on for the remainder of 2023, and then we will create a plan and a vision for making that happen. During this time, you will be manifesting exactly what your heart desires.

This is your one precious life, be the driver, the author of your very own story and make life happen FOR you. You will learn why making a vision book may be a bit more successful for you than a vision board, how to use it, and what to do next once you have created it.

Art journaling is a fun and creative way to express yourself without the need to have any “art experience”. It’s all about the ability to let go and play.

In this class, you will learn the basics of art journaling, how to use the products, and you will simply just have a good time. There are no rules to art journaling. You can write as little or as much as you want. It’s all about the process!

We will use a fun assortment of stencils, paints, and found objects to get our hands nice and dirty and some creative pages completed. This could just be the beginning of your creative journey, or a fabulous addition to your already creative life!

SUNDAY, JUNE 19 (PM)

14:00 - 15:30 | Free to Explore

Refresh your mind for the afternoon and enjoy the sun by exploring the beautiful surroundings we're in.

15:30 - 18:00 | Botanical Painting.

In this workshop, you will learn how to create a simple acrylic ink background. You will then draw a botanical flower of your choice and learn the techniques required to paint the flower using fluid Golden acrylic paints.

Your instructor, Tannis, suggests using Golden paints as they are highly pigmented and the fluid paints are easy to use in this workshop! If you feel that you cannot draw a botanical flower, no problem, Tannis will provide samples that you can use as a reference or traced.

We will use watercolor paper as a substrate, and you will go home with a beautiful painting you can frame!

This is a beginner class, and we will work step by step.

Intuitive Artist

Tannis Ross is an Intuitive Artist, Teacher and Retreat Facilitator living in beautiful Maple Ridge, BC. When Tannis isn’t flinging paint, or snuggling with her cat, she can be found exploring the forest trails near her home, travelling, or searching to find the perfect spot in nature to plant her fold up chair and spend some time reading or writing in her journal.

Tannis' love of painting is an extension of her desire to connect, teach and gather with others to practice the art of being in a state of creative flow. Tannis is a dreamer, a doer, a badass believer in women! For nearly 10 years through her company A Pinch of Creativity, she has encouraged the women in her classes and circle to explore their deepest selves so that they can be witness to their own greatness.

Through Intuitive Painting, art journaling and journal work, Tannis helps others to connect to their creative selves. She believes that it is through the creative process that we tap into our authentic, non-fearing, courageous selves.

COACHES

CheyenneWilliamsArtInstructor.jpg

Cheyenne Williams
Acrylic Artist

From a VERY young age, Cheyenne's parents' walls were her first canvas! With trusty crayons in tow, she would spend hours creating. As she grew it became apparent to all those around her that Cheyenne's future would be lived as an artist.

In 2014 Cheyenne created her business - Paint Star Party - to share with others the great feeling of accomplishment you have when you create something beautiful. Cheyenne wanted this feeling to be available to everyone, even if they don't consider themselves creative at all.

So whether you are creative or only stick man capable, Cheyenne will guide you step by step towards painting your own beautiful piece of art that you'll finish in a couple of well spent hours.

Cheyenne's students are normally blown away by their results, and you will be too!
